Book of Golden Deeds Award
What is the Book of Golden Deeds?
Volunteer efforts are very important to our
society and should not go unnoticed. The
National Exchange Club’s longest running
the Book of Golden Deeds Award, recognizes
dedicated volunteers who give endless hours
of their time and talents toward making their
communities better places to live. Ever since
the Exchange Club of Huntington, Ind.,
sponsored the first award in 1919, thousands
of unsung heroes and heroines have been

2016 Scholarship Dinner
2016 Elsye Williams Scholarship Dinner was held at Flannigans in North Chicago. This
year we partnered with Zion Exchange Club. Our 2015-2016 scholarship recipient was
Jauzlyn Hardy. Club member Mary James spoke on our youth programs. Paula
Carballido congratulated incoming president-elect Trenda Abbott. Immediate past
president Tonja Gordon passes on the torch to Carol Stewart. Rosario Mendez spoke
about how the education scholarship she received from the North Chicago Exchange
club really helped her. Bill Froese, President Elect Lincolnland District, installed our
new president Carol Stewart and the new president of Zion Exchange Club, Julia
Barnes. Angel Jackson passes the torch to Zion new president Julia Barnes. Also
installed were board members and new officers from both clubs. Turn out was great.
All and all it was a good night.
Jauzlyn Hardy is a senior at North Chicago
Community High School. She has a GPA of 4.17
and ranks 6th out of a class of 150. She has
participated in several different clubs and have done
numerous hours of community service . She plans
on continuing her education at the University of
Illinois majoring in Criminology, Sociology and a
minor in Psychology. Her words are: "Ultimately I
have grown as a person. I started my teen years as
a quite girl with almost no personality and now I'm
active, dedicated, confident, focus and out spoken"
Fireman Sterling Ricketts was our guest speaker for October
Fire Safety Month. He was presented a certificate of
appreciation from our current president Carol Stewart with
past president Tonja Gordon and president elect Trenda
